I finally got the answer to the question:
Will CBD derived from hemp (and not cannabis) help?
From the very start of my journey with cannabis, and as I have tried to help others find relief, one of the questions that I have dreaded most was when others, in states where cannabis is not yet legal would ask about hemp products. I would often get asked if they would help. Being in a state where cannabis is legal, I had not tried any hemp products and so I had no way of answering that question.
I struggled to find anyone that would answer that question in a fashion that left me with any confidence that they knew what they were talking about. I found that people were either cannabis supporters OR hemp supporters in regards to talking about CBD. But I failed to find a solid source that I felt I could believe when trying to find an answer for those that were asking.
Over the past months, as I have continued to find relief from the pain using cannabis, and as I begin to feel as my cognitive condition might be improving I have come to understand that it is the cannabinoids and terpenes found in the cannabis I am consuming that are helping me to feel better, helping me to heal.
And so I began to answer the question:
Will CBD from hemp help me?
With this….
“Although I have not tried any hemp products, my understanding of the hemp plant and its similarities to cannabis in regards to cannabinoids and terpenes leads me to believe that it can only help! To what extent, I don’t know, but I would absolutely incorporate it into my life.”
This past week, I meet some people that are in support of and are extremely knowledgeable about BOTH cannabis and hemp products. I learned SO much! I am kicking myself for not recording the whole thing but the good news is that they will be back and this time I will make SURE to have my shit together to record because there is so much to learn from each one of them and their personal journeys to healing their bodies! One of the biggest takeaways was that CBD from hemp does have medicinal benefits!!!! They confirmed that my assumptions were correct and explained a shit ton about the healing properties of CBD.
SO – for everyone that has followed my journey – that either is in a state where cannabis is not yet legal, or you just aren’t ready to go the whole cannabis route…
YES – HEMP DERIVED CBD HELPS!!!!
So go out and get some and start incorportating into your routine!
BUT THAT GOES WITH THE HUGE DISCLAIMER TO FIND OUT WHERE YOUR HEMP COMES FROM:
As with ANYTHING you are going to put in your body –
- KNOW WHERE it comes from]
- KNOW HOW it was grown and how it was extracted
- KNOW WHAT was used in each of the processes
- KNOW WHAT it is mixed with
My new friends left me with a few “goodies” and I have been sucking down my CBD for the past week – and although I am about two weeks from done with my “trial” of it – I have actually noticed a few slight improvements. The biggest of which is that I have been putting it topically on my FEET just before bed. Each night, irrelevant of how good or bad the pain is, as I lie still – waiting to drift off to sleep, I get these crazy electrical shocks zinging through my feet, it’s been like that for years.
For the past four nights I have put the CBD on my feet and for the past four nights, I have been zing free! That is big – because I can not remember the last time my almost asleep feet weren’t zinging!
I will admit that I was the BIGGEST topical skeptic around – because my issues are just too much ALL over that I have always joked that I would have to first I would have to bath in it to notice relief or improvement and then buy stock in the company making the oil or lotion in order to be able to afford it. BUT it seems I may stand corrected. I will keep trying it out and will let you know.
I’m really beginning to believe that small steps lead to big improvements!!!
I started out on this journey to find relief from the chronic pain – that’s it. But looking back over the past 18 months – at how much I have improved, how much I have gained, how much I have achieved and how much I am looking forward to the future and I feel so incredibly lucky that I decided to take what I viewed as a “risk” – to step away from the medications and drugs that the doctors recommended and try and more natural path and I look forward to sharing as I continue to meet people and learn!
My latest article for California Weed Blog this week talked about my first ever dab hit, what it was like when I consumed MORE cannabis AND my 6.2 mile hike!!!

I am one of the people who cured using marijuana. When i was a little bit younger i suffered from asthma am having a hard time to breath everytime i walked from our house to school. I know it sounds weird that i smoke even i have asthma but yes i tried it. At first, my body doesn’t like the taste of marijuana but one of my friends told me if i will continue using this it will help me to breath properly. But luckily it helps me and yes until now I’m still smoking marijuana.
Hey Stanley,
Thanks for sharing! So awesome that you have found something to help you with your asthma!!!!
Xoxo
Meg!
I just gave hemp salve a try on my intractable charlie horse leg cramps, and I’m amazed. The meds that were able to treat it (barely) were unpleasant to say the least. So, I’m big fan. I have not tried CBD-from-cannibus salve yet, but I doubt it is any different, tho maybe stronger? As Maine stumbles toward recreational legalization, I’m fully on board.
I live in Indiana where CBD was just recently legalized (last state to get on board I think, ugh) and added CBD massage oil on my massage last Friday. Also bought a 200mg CBD gel to put on the bottom of my feet every day and anywhere else that needs it. I think it helped the zings in my legs at night too. Do you also take it internally? How do you know how much? Thanks for addressing CBD use for those of us who can’t legally or medically use cannabis.
I am currently working on figuring out dosing – but at the moment have some in a spray form and I just put it under my tongue (4-5 sprays) 3-4 times a day AND then I have been putting it on my feet at night. I am most definitely on the “more is okay” train of thought with the CBD.
Cheers!
BBH:)
Another great informative read. You are a great advocate for things other than prescription meds.
I have found a physio/oesteopath who is making me realise that a lot of my pain is due to body compensating when I hurt, rather than just MS causing the pain. I feel about her like you do about your cannabis, it’s magic. Also shows that we all need to try and find the specific magic for us.
One size does not fit all.
I’m qualified to say this having been fat all my life and told this so often by sales people 😂😂😂😂
