Multiple Sclerosis & Cannabis: Chatting About Cannabis With Dizzy

I am super excited to have been the guest of the premiere episode of the new podcast- Dizzycast.  Dizzy and I first connected in the vast world of social media when the blog Dinosuars, Donkeys and MS first launched.  I followed the blog – I read the posts and would often leave a comment on things that struck chord with me.  I would have said we “knew” one another.

Well that was until Heather, the creator of Dizzy and the human that lives with MS reached out to me about being a part of her newly created podcast.  Because I THOUGHT Heather was a man.  I thought the stories I had been reading were written by a male.  I don’t know what exactly led me to that conclusion.  I don’t know what I read, or thought I read that made me think that Dizzy had a penis and not a vagina:)  Sorry Heather!!!!  The point is, until we actually reached out and connected, I really didn’t KNOW Heather at all, and yet after just a brief chat with her last month, I now feel as if I know her and consider her a friend!

SO what did we talk about?  Probably easier to list what we DIDN’T talk about.  Seems I have a knack for talking (I’m sure that this will come as such a surprise to my parents:)  We start out chatting about when I was first diagnosed- what symptoms I experienced that lead me to seek medical attention.  We then ran through the gamut of DMDs that I have tried (Avonex, Tysabri, Rituximaub and Tecfidera) and then we went on to discuss cannabis and how it has helped me return to a better quality of life.  I talk about the trying different strains, how I am choosing to ingest it and even a bit about how my kids feel about their mom using cannabis and talking publicly about it.

Our segment is followed up with a short (and sweet) story about Dizzy.  After which Jen, blogger over at Tripping Through Treacle) and Robert, who can be found over at A 30 Minute Life (who both have lovely accents too) talk about MS and fatigue.  They both offer some great advice on how to counter the overwhelming fatigue that some of us live with.  All in all, it’s a super great podcast – with a something for everyone feel.  I can’t wait to see what Dizzy gets up to next!

My segment is about 35 minutes and to be honest, it seems so long ago that we spoke, that I forgot what we discussed but I am pleasantly surprised with how well it went. Even though I was listening to myself (and I have never been fond of how I sound in recordings) I actually enjoyed listening to it.  Maybe I am biased????:)

  1. Excellent interview – articulate, understandable and a great source of balanced insight into your personal path which will no doubt encourage others to explore options….
You do make a difference, Meg.

    1. I know! But in my defense I THINK for some reason I have always thought Donkeys are male – which I know makes no sense. But it’s what I had in my mind So then I just jumped to the conclusion???? Sorry:( 😬

          1. ok Heather – figured out ANOTHER reason that I jumped to thinking you were a man….in your “About Me” you refer to yourself as an actor. Which I know in British speak is non-gender specific, but here in the US actors are typically male and females are actresses. SO that is where my whole crazy mix up about penises and vaginas began!!!:)

would LOVE to know what you think...
